Authors Abstract
Content
The kinematic properties of the flow in the cylinder of a diesel engine are analyzed. A steady flow rig and an engine bench are used. Thus, comparisons between steady and unsteady conditions are obtained. The quantities analyzed are the swirl and axial mean velocities and also the turbulence. Attention is paid to the valve lift effect and to the choice of scale for dimensionless presentation.
