Authors Abstract
Content
An air-operated disc brake has been developed the force transmission mechanism of which features such small friction losses that the hysteresis observed in the actuating mechanism has been reduced to a minimum. In connection with a frictionally optimized sliding caliper guide, this brake has functional properties which are comparable to those of the hydraulic fixed caliper brakes which have been used in buses and coaches for more than ten years with great success.
A combination of these air disc brakes with drum brakes causes no problems, just like the hydraulic fixed-caliper disc brake which has been installed in buses and coaches over many years.
