Compact Gas Turbine Power for Fast Ships

Gas turbines in the medium power class, 1000 to 5000 SHP, usually enjoy lightweight and small size due to an aircraft engine heritage and allow the designer of small ships the ability to consider much higher speed craft and still maintain a reasonable space allotment for machinery. This paper will describe several gas turbines in the medium power range and discuss a number of recently designed and/or delivered high speed vessels using these engines.
