CommCar - An Integrated Approach to In-Vehicle Telephones

The development and implementation of a vehicle integrated 800 Mhz cellular telephone system is described. Particular emphasis is placed on the interconnection of existing vehicle systems through the use of digital data links. It is shown that systems integration can provide increased feature content in a vehicle without the corresponding space requirements. It is also shown that ergonomic advantages may he realized with integrated systems over discrete systems.
