Abstract
Content
Numerical experiment of Mg2Ni combustion synthesis was carried out by an experimentally validated, total mathematical model, in which effect of preheating of metals on reaction temperature, reaction time, conversion and reaction mechanism was assessed. The calculated data gave transient fields of temperature and conversion within a sample at various preheating temperatures. The results showed that the preheating of metals offers benefit in increasing maximum temperature, shortening a processing time, enhancing purification of a product and dominating solid combustion mode without liquid phase generation.
