Abstract
Content
A HIGH-SPEED motion picture study of diesel-engine combustion has been made along the following lines:
  1. 1.
A visual and photographic study of spray form, spray penetration, and combustion in a pressure chamber or bomb in which engine conditions of pressure and temperature can be simulated.
  2. 2.
A photographic study of combustion in a full-scale single-cylinder diesel engine through windows set in the precombustion chamber.
The apparatus used in this investigation as well as the results achieved are discussed in full by Mr. Bryan.
