DIFFICULTIES of starting truck engines in cold weather have led to the development of several schemes for making starting easier.
Discussed here is one of these methods, which consists of an electric immersion heater of 500-1250 w installed in the engine block for heating the liquid surrounding the cylinder walls.
It appears from tests carried out by Mr. Gohn that the electric immersion heater affords a relatively simple and economical means of improving engine starting for equipment stored outside or even in unheated garages.
