Modeling and validation with test data of a full scale H-53E hydraulic lag dampers was investigated. A new and used lag H-53E damper were tested on a servo-hydraulic testing machine at the University of Maryland. Testing was performed under single frequency (lag mode frequency and rotor frequency) sinusoidal excitation at a range of stroking amplitudes to characterize performance. A hydro-mechanical model of H-53E lag damper was developed to predict damper behavior. Damper performance predictions using the analytical model was validated using experimentally measured data.
