Changing Automotive Body Measurement System Paradigms with 3D Non-Contact Measurement Systems

The purpose of this paper is to compare the use of a 3D non-contact measurement system with traditional checking systems and determine advantages and limitations. A case study based on stamped parts is used to specifically compare this technology with CMM systems in terms of measurement variation issues such as repeatability and correlation.
