Authors Abstract
Content
The advance of civilization and increase in world population have created unusual demands for improvement of man's earthworking capabilities. Consequently, the United States, as a world leader in the field of earthmoving technology, faces a significant challenge to maintain its position. Ways and means must be found to conserve and expand resources, improve technology, meet competition, and better protect the public welfare. The nature of the challenge is subjectively discussed, and specific suggestions are made for individual and cooperative efforts to improve the situation.
