Authors Abstract
Content
A discourse on applications of the methods associated with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to problems related to the space station Freedom (SSF) Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) is presented. Formulation of a numerical solution of the transient conservation equations for the CFD macro-modeling of systems involving low velocity flow is demonstrated and specifically applied to the determination of the effects of intermodule ventilation (IMV) on the cabin air flow circulation and on the spatial distribution of metabolic carbon dioxide in the man tended configuration (MTC) of the space station. Other ECLSS related applications are discussed.
