CERTIFICATION OF MODEL 230 HELICOPTER FOR CATEGORY ’A’ ELEVATED HELIPAD OPERATIONS

A flight test program leading to the certification of Model 230 helicopter for Category A elevated heliport operations was conducted. This paper discusses the development of a new TakeOff and Landing procedure for Transport Helicopters operating from elevated helipads. The paper describes the procedures to follow in the event of a single engine failure during the TakeOff and the Landing profiles. Also presented are the demonstrated helicopter performances for this type of operations. The developed procedures will enable operators to plan for Category A operations from elevated heliports.
