The Automotive Industry has searched in the last years solutions to heat problem generated by vehicles. Since the advent of the catalytic converter in 1974, the problems are increasing due to the high temperature in the exhaust systems for reaching a good catalize performance.
Ceramic Fibers'products as paper, blanket, resined blanket and vacuum cast are used as insulation down pipes, mufflers, silencers, undercarpet and heat shields applications; also the expansive papers are used in catalytic converter.
This paper intends to show the technical characteristics of ceramic fiber's products, the advantages, applications and practical results in the Automotive Industry, mainly in the exhaust systems.
