With the advent of highly mobile warfare, greater and greater demands are placed on the logistician to be creative, innovative, and, above all, austere in requirements for men and machines. The delivery of fuel, ammunition, and supplies when and where needed is the prime mission of the logistical tail which can stretch thousands of miles and involve many more personnel and resources than are actually engaged in fighting.
