ABSTRACT

The work presented here comprises preliminary results for calibrating the IMPETUS Afea Hybrid III 50th percentile Male ATD for a blast scenario. The calibration of the ATD model based upon the requirements defined for frontal crash impact are presented followed by a discussion of the blast survivability tests that were performed at General Dynamics Edgefield Test Center in South Carolina. The model setup for the calibration based upon the blast tests are presented which includes a discussion of the seating and blast models. Preliminary numerical results for Lumbar and Lower Tibia forces are compared with the experimental results. The correlation was good and calibration of the remaining critical parameters continues.
