This paper presents a method for preliminary aircraft design at initial determination of aircraft dimension, weight, thrust and aerodynamics under specified flight-performance requirements (FPR). The main flight-performance are:
  • characteristics of subsonic maneuverability,
  • subsonic flight range,
  • mission load weight
Achieving required supersonic Mach number at specified engine operating mode and at specific excess power can be considered as additional FPR.
The idea of the method is to transfer the FPR into requirements to aircraft dimension, weight, thrust and aerodynamics. The method is based on relation between aircraft energy possibilities and it's arrangement parameters, “mass-geometry” and “geometry-aerodynamics” relations in a form of analytical equations.
Simplicity and rapidity of technique application make it suitable for use at preliminary design.
