- The purpose of this paper is to show an example of how computer aided engineering can be used to design effectively with polymeric materials. The example used is the development of a cartridge door system for automotive applications. The cartridge door provides a unique design and assembly method utilizing a combination of traditional and polymeric materials in an effective design solution. A balance of computer aided engineering and classic engineering was used to reduce the time required to achieve the project goals.
