Bearingless Main Rotor Whirl Test: Design, Analysis And Test Results

The whirl test of an advanced bearingless main rotor designed for a commercial helicopter is described. Pre-test results for the natural frequencies of the test stand and the blades are reviewed. Performance, stability and loads measurements are then presented in conjunction with analysis. A summary of test results and the accuracy of analytical predictions is provided.
