This paper explores the challenge of maintaining networked communication between teams of rotorcraft. An adaptive communication network is presented, in which a directional antenna in conjunction with automated adjustment of platform location, radio power, and radio frequency is used to maintain communication links. The adaptive network is exercised in a combat simulation model. Measures of effectiveness are used to determine the performance of the adaptive network based on results from the simulation runs. The adaptive network is shown to improve the communication network and overall mission effectiveness.
