- A new type of internal combustion engine has been built which is characterised by reduced cooling of the combustion chamber achieved by using a water-cooled head with a cast iron piston and a liner cooled only by conduction and convection. This paper provides a description of the engine and some experimental results, followed by a discussion of its design and performance features. The outstanding characteristic of the small hp engine is its very low specific fuel and lubricating oil consumption combined with high reliability.
