Abstract
Content
This paper represents Part III of a three part series on automotive FM diversity systems. Part I (2007-01-1731) focuses on a review of propagation channel modeling and multipath fading. Part II (2007-01-1732) deals with analog diversity systems which have been developed to combat the effects of this fading in an FM broadcast signal and Part III discusses new digital implementations of FM diversity systems that have been designed in DSP algorithms.
This paper investigates the performance of digital implementations of the Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA) and switched diversity for two-antenna system in frequency selective multipath (long-delay) fading. It compares their performances to the analog Phase Aligning System (PAS) under the same signal conditions.
