The atomizing mechanism and characteristics of the atomizing channel injector are investigated in this paper through the fliud field and initial fuel atomization of the injector.
It is shown that there exist a recirculation zone behind the channel and a separated vortex on the outside surface of the channel edge. Unstable atomization of the fuel film of the injector happens when the film turns over from the inside to the outside of the channel under the action of the separated vortex and recirculation zone.
The atomizing process of the injector is displayed by pulse holography. Various initial atomizing information obtained at the exit of the injector includes the spray drop size, the spray drop space distribtion, the fuel concentration and the drop size frequency. The effect of injector structure, air velocity and other parameters on atomizing performance of the injector is also discussed in the paper.
