A new method towards defining high-order convective fluxes based on unstructured grids is introduced and validated in this paper. The basic concept is to construct a high-degree polynomial based on both primitive flow variables and their gradients on the current and neighboring cells, which is used to reconstruct a higher-order numerical flux at discontinuous interfaces. A limiter detector technique is investigated to improve the stability and robustness of the high-order method in predicting realistic and complex viscous flows. Detailed validations are presented to evaluate the accuracy and computational costs of the proposed method in the prediction of three vortexdominant viscous flows generated by a fixed wing, a hovering rotor, and a marine propeller.
