- Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) is in the process of evolution at John Deere. Deere has adopted the Manufacturing Automation Protocol (MAP) as a tool to help achieve integration at a lower cost. Steps such as pilot CIM projects using MAP networking are being taken to develop expertise in MAP and automation. This paper discusses the experience of a CIM pilot using MAP at Deere's Harvester Works, including practical lessons learned and future strategies.
