Application of Boundary Layer Control to Helicopter Rotor Blades

It is the intent of this paper to report on a research program which was concerned with the application of the principles of boundary layer control to the rotor blades of helicopters. After preliminary consideration of the various aerodynamic effects obtainable from boundary layer control and circulation control methods, and uses to which those effects might be put on rotary wings, the objective of rotor blade stall alleviation through slotsuction BLC was selected for concentrated system design and development effort.
