This paper describes a solution for health monitoring, diagnostic inference, and optimized troubleshooting, that leverages dependency-model-based reasoning tools developed by Qualtech Systems, Inc. (QSI) and a HUMS system, to support an integrated maintenance concept for the U.S. Navy and Army helicopters. Developed under the Joint (Navy and Army) Advanced Health and Usage Monitoring System (JAHUMS) Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ACTD) program, this maintenance support system involves the integration of commercially available Sikorsky Aircraft and QSI software applications, and the development of new custom modules and interfaces, to provide an integrated onboard and ground-based system for the health monitoring and maintenance of aircraft engines. The paper describes the core QSI technology underlying the principal modules of the ISS system, the modeling and design issues addressed, the development and customization tasks performed to enable its integration with the HUMS system, and the status of developmental and operational testing.
