Abstract

Army helicopters must operate out of roughly cleared landing sites. The UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter incorporates flush antennas so there are no protrusions on the bottom to be damaged in rough area landings. This paper describes the design and development program for these antennas. It discusses antenna design objectives and requirements, initial antenna designs and installation, the antenna test program and resulting antenna improvements for production.
