Abstract
Content

Airframe modifications of the SH-2G(E), a derivative of Kaman Aerospace Corporation’s SH-2G helicopter purchased by the Arab Republic of Egypt, are subjected to an analytical substantiation process. Analytical substantiation is a combination of empirical data, finite element modeling, and focused flight testing that can be used on SH-2G derivatives that have similar weight, cg, and mission spectra. The process defines correlation factors that are applied to finite element data used to size structure and compare airframe responses of the baseline and derivative configurations. The analytical substantiation process is presented along with the results of the successful substantiation of the SH-2G(E) airframe modifications.
