Authors Abstract
Content
From the multivariate analysis on the actual data collected in urban driving, it was shown that average trip time was the single most important factor in explaining the variability of fuel consumption. The theoretical approximation model was derived in terms of physical properties of engine-vehicle systems and the relationships among the traffic related parameters and ten factors including the trip time were identified. Paying attention to the average trip time, the fuel consumption estimation model was verified using the traffic detector data to be in comparatively good agreement with the actual fuel consumption.
