Analysis Of Combustion In S.I. Engines

Engine specialists have had to develop, over the past ten years, methods of analysis of increasing precision in order to understand and model the combustion process.

This paper reviews both classical and new analysis methods:

• presure measurements and thermodynamic analysis
• flame visualisation by high speed video
• image analysis of the films so obtained
• creation of three dimensionnal images based on the results of calculation.
