Authors Abstract
Content
A history of USSR air cargo indicates that post-war expansion, particularly on international routes, has been substantial. The intensity of flow on domestic routes depends strongly on geographical considerations: there is a dichotomy of air cargo economics, split between areas served by land transportation and those relatively inaccessible. The effectiveness of air cargo, as part of the unified transportation network, is measured in terms of State interests, rather than total cost distribution. Examples and projected growth rates are offered.
