Abstract
Content
The successful design of an efficient, economic, and flexible Air Cargo Terminal responsive to user needs is chiefly dependent upon the timely identification and analysis of all available design criteria. This activity is necessary to gain a complete understanding of the requirements of the facility and ramifications of the International and Domestic market relative to the specific operations of the airport location.
To accomplish this task, a comprehensive program of User Agency interviews is conducted. Basic design criteria relative to site selection, historical and projected aircraft activity, market share, annual throughput, shipment characteristics, and cargo directionality are defined and documented.
This programmatic analysis of critical operations and/or processes, both within and surrounding the terminal, results in the ability to determine more precisely the requirements for physical space allocation and equipment selection. This analysis accommodates future trends, forces, and phenomena having potential impact in a highly progressive and swiftly developing cargo handling technology.
