This paper describes the aerodynamic and dynamic design and development of the main rotor of the YAH-64 Advanced Attack Helicopter. The design studies that led to the selection of the type of rotor system, the blade airfoil and geometry, and the hub configuration, are discussed. The development program is also discussed and includes fatigue and whirl tests. The design and development program has led to a main rotor system that generally meets the requirements of the Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter specification.
