In-Use Performance Ratio is critical because it is a legislative requirement for On-Board Diagnostics. This paper discusses on how Virtual Simulations were used as a powerful tool in meeting IUPR requirements especially in markets where engine operating conditions are a corner case scenario which can be a potential bottleneck in meeting them. Customer trucks were chosen based on severity level of low IUPR values. Data from these customer trucks was used as an input to Matlab-Simulink models to understand the vehicle operation and conditions that can be a potential bottleneck to fulfilling IUPR requirements. Various iterations of simulations were performed with different possible calibration datasets to improve the OBD running frequency while maintaining the robustness. Virtual Simulations helped reduce the actual testing time on testbed.
