Testing modern digital electronic fuel control requires employing techniques which make the testing safe, efficient, and accurate. The recent Army/Sikorsky/Chandler Evans adaptive fuel control program incorporated software monitoring and modification capabilities, as well as a unique dual control installation to develop and test the control. In-flight utilization of these capabilities as well as innovative mission task evaluations yielded a productive test program. Consideration should be given to application of these techniques to future digital control development.
