ADAMS Modeling of a Helicopter on a Ship which Undergoes Roll, Pitch, Heave and Sway

A modeling and analysis methodology is developed for predicting deck handling and stability limitations for a helicopter on a moving ship’s deck. The methodology makes use of the general purpose dynamics modeling and simulation program of ADAMS (Automated Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems) and explores the issues of toppling and sliding, on deck securing, and landing loads. Sample results from the analysis are presented. This work was done in preparation for proposed sea trials.
