A new method is proposed for computing periodic solutions to asymptotically stable dynamical systems, along with a strategy for adapting the proposed method to the helicopter trim problem. The method may be characterised as a Periodic Multiple Shooting method. The utility of the proposed method is that it enables parallel computation along a temporal direction. The method may be succesfully applied to small systems of equations. However, unlike traditional multiple shooting methods, the proposed method does not strictly require solving a (large) system of algebraic equations. Thus, the proposed method has potential to be scaled to larger systems (e.g. CFD/CSD models). The proposed method is formally shown to be locally convergent. Numerical tests using model problems demonstrate the success of the method.
