- Modern day vehicles are equipped with multiple features to enhance user experience, increased safety and continuous over the air updates for upgradability and updatability of vehicles over lifetime. The implementation of every embedded automotive software feature consumes microcontroller resources (like RAM and ROM) which are highly critical and need careful handling. In an SDV architecture, where continuous software upgrades and updates are enabled, optimal feature handling becomes necessary. The microcontroller resources chosen during the development phase often reaches the threshold limit even before series production. In such scenarios, software feature enhancement/updates are challenging. When the memory is limited and becomes a constraint for installing newer features / upgrades, OEM has minimal provision to enhance or introduce new features. The paper presents framework to OEM to get a summary of how to manage functionality in a vehicle variant depending on specific demographic location and user preferences. The summary of the functionality usage is reported to end user in the vehicle system.
