- Non-interactive power transmission mechanism is usually realized by using high ratio worm gearing or hypoid gearing. However, these types of high ratio gears have weak points such as very low efficiency in power transmission when a high reduction ratio is not required. The purpose of this study is intended to realize a non-interactive, or irreversible, power transmission mechanism having a considerably high transmission efficiency with sophisticated arrangement of planetary gearing and wrapped-spring clutch. The experimental result shows that this mechanism can realize a high efficiency more than twice that of comparable worm gearing.
