As regulations on exhaust emissions of automobiles are tightened in each country, the paradigm of the automobile industry is rapidly changing from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles, and consumers' interest in electric vehicles and sales volume are soaring. However, it is very inconvenient for consumers that electric vehicles take a considerable amount of time to charge compared to internal combustion engines, which can be refueled within minutes at gas stations. Therefore, shorter charging times are bringing electric vehicles to an inconvenience. It is the most important part in the development. The factors that determine the charging time of the electric vehicle include the capacity of the charger, the characteristics of the battery, Although many aspects such as charging control strategy are included, battery thermal management is one of the most influential factors in determining charging speed. In the case of an electric vehicle that can be charged at high speed, the charging speed is determined by the fixed charging current (A), and the battery generates heat in proportion to the square of the current. At a certain temperature or higher, thermal management of the battery is necessary. If it is impossible, battery deterioration damage may occur, which may be fatal to battery durability and lead to a decrease in charging speed. In electric vehicles currently being developed and mass-produced, a battery water cooling system is applied to increase the density of battery cells in order to increase battery capacity in the same package. A battery cools with coolant having a higher specific heat than a method of cooling with indoor air. The water cooling system cools the battery using the air conditioning system of the vehicle. However, it is impossible to cool the very large battery heating amount generated during rapid charging with the conventional air conditioning system. Therefore, in this study, a combined air conditioner condenser system that can cool the large battery heating amount deviates from the existing air conditioning system framework was developed. Also, it was applied to the e-GMP platform vehicle. The effectiveness was verified.
