A “State of the Art” Chain Driven CVT Design

The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) has emerged from being considered a novel automotive transmission concept to now being a fully developed design, ready to compete with current automatic transmissions. The CVT transmission is described in detail to demonstrate the advantages of its design as well as present the uniqueness of one such design, the PIV/PTC transmission. These features are then related to basic required driving functions.
