A Simplified Dilution Tunnel System Intended for Heavy Duty Diesel Development

A simplified dilution tunnel system for development purposes is presented. Comparisons are made to a full-size CVS system, and statistical data for the correlation between the systems are presented. Variations within the system were found to be of normal levels, and the correlations for CO₂, CO and NO_x were acceptable. For HC and particulates where greater differences were observed between systems, the causes are identified and suggestions made for improvements.
