Abstract

The search for a consistent method of constructing an S-N curve for a given material was conducted. This study primarily concerned itself with the case when the S-N curve shape is unknown, such as with a new material, and when the number of laboratory test data points is limited. A variety of construction concepts were tested against test data derived from coupon testing of various steels and aluminum. A practical method of construction was developed and a computer program written to aid in the construction process.
