The capability now exists to integrate the real-time, high fidelity characteristics of a flight simulation tool with the real-time, high fidelity computational algorithms of a force-on-force constructive simulation model into one pilot-in-the-loop interactive system. This portable system provides a cost effective alternative to expensive, stationary rehearsal simulations and also enables pilots to operate on the same system both at home and while deployed. Incorporation of a desktop portable simulator with a high-fidelity force-on-force simulation creates a highly customizable mission rehearsal system that will enable pilots and air crews to perform en-route mission rehearsal and multiple course-of-action evaluations on short notice while deployed. This paper describes one such integrated, re-configurable, portable, mission analysis/flight simulation system, or Re-Configurable Portable Simulator (RPS). An integral component of the RPS is the Boeing developed Advanced Tactical Combat Model (ATCOM) constructive simulation. Both the ATCOM model and the associated flight simulation technology will be fully discussed in terms of validation, verification, development, and application to war-fighter rehearsal and mission preparation in both classified and unclassified modes.
