THE MOST RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN Polyurea RRIM (Reinforced Reaction Injection Molding) technology provide new opportunities to produce very large class “A” surface body panels, having a top-coat finish with DOI (Distinctness Of Image) equal to that of steel body panels. This new Polyurea RRIM substrate offers reductions in part complexity, weight, product development time, and improved dent resistance. It also meets or exceeds all durability requirements, and provides enhanced manufacturing and on-line top-coat paint cycle capabilities. Most importantly, it is a customer-friendly substrate that will satisfy service demands.
The paper summarizes the advantages Polyurea RRIM Bayflex 150 DOI means to the manufacturing engineer. Bayflex 150 DOI provides flowability, multiple part releases, high gloss top-coat with a DOI finish equivalent to steel, and green strength with excellent physical properties to meet design intent.
