A New Compact Drive-System with a Microcomputer Controlled Dual DC-Chopper

Different forms of integration between motor, gear and controller are discussed. By using gear-shifting, the drive can be optimised. A good performance for a separately excited dc motor is given by splitting in two parts fed by a dual dc chopper. The design of a motor and controller system for a passenger car is shown.
