- The two-stroke cycle engine has been brought to a high level of refinement in marine outboard motors. This paper describes a recent design with emphasis on the use of exhaust system pressure waves to influence cylinder scavenging and charging. Included is a discussion of how the design was tailored to meet marketing and tooling requirements.
