This is an innovative project that has successfully resulted in retraining displaced aerospace workers who possessed a working knowledge of electronic repair to apply this knowledge as automotive technicians. Representatives from automobile manufacturers (foreign and domestic), independent repair facilities, public education (local, county and state), aerospace companies, state department of employment, state bureau of automotive repair, and funding agencies have worked together to implement and maintain this training program. This six hundred hour course incorporates classroom instruction in a state of the art facility, application of skills automotive repair facilities, and the use of an automotive technical support company to validate skills demonstrated on assignments by using a call back system which connects the students with an on line technician who evaluates the students' performance on practical application assignments.
