- A functional water-soluble binder with COO−, C=O and/or -CN group is investigated for conventional natural graphite material in lithium-ion battery. The binder could be beneficial both to initial efficiency and low temperature performance improvement, with little unwanted side reactions are found. dQ/dV and EIS results show that the functional binder may work as pseudo-SEI with improved charge-transfer properties which could be important towards high C-rate cell designs and applications.
