Comfort and safety of car passengers are the main concern of car manufacturers. Whilst there are adequate solutions as long as the car's engine is running, the first few minutes still pose a problem.
The rapid heating/defrosting system under discussion avoids these difficulties by the use of a burner, fired by the car's fuel. Minimized masses in the system result in extremely short reaction time while enhancing designers' freedom where the car system is concerned.
Applications in standard cars as well as in extremely fuel-efficient or electrically powered cars are discussed.
